Anniversaries...& New Beginnings: Volume 5, Issue 4

After an extended sabbatical, Blast Furnace is pleased to present Volume 5, Issue 4, featuring poems about anniversaries, as well as poetry outside of that theme. We're also presenting Issue 4 as our final edition, after five years of showcasing new and established writers from the local Pittsburgh community, and far, far beyond.

Since 2010, Blast Furnace has had the great fortune of receiving submissions from the United States and internationally. We could not have imagined this response, and it was our privilege and honor to publish many fine works in each and every issue, along with original verse in audio (.mp3) format.

While Issue 4 represents our last edition, Blast Furnace will publish Beth Wurz's "Cuttings" chapbook in July as its second annual prize winner, and it will be available for purchase via http://www.blastfurnacepress.com, along with the first annual chapbook prize winner and our "mixtape" eChap, which benefits the Braddock Carnegie Library in Braddock, Pennsylvania.

Additionally, we will publish a limited-edition "best of" anthology in late 2017, with the assistance of two of our volunteer guest reviewers. Stay tuned for future updates on this project!

Finally, Blast Furnace will maintain its online presence (this website) through 2018, although no future calls for submissions, quarterly or special editions, nor poet/artist interviews will be posted. We will, however, post announcements pertaining to our available chapbooks for sale and progress updates on the anthology. These same announcements & updates will be sent to our member email address book.

Many thanks to our guest reviewers, contest judges, published poets and all who submitted works for consideration from 2010 to 2016, as well as the literary community at large for its enthusiastic embrace of our little space here on the web.
